Cherry flesh is the only part of the fruit that may be worth discussing as food. If the pit, stem, and leaves are removed first, the flesh is the part some pets can have in tiny amounts.
That does not make cherry an especially important pet food. It just means the flesh is the workable part, while the center and attached plant parts are the reason whole cherries are a poor choice.
Preparation guidance
- Use only pitted flesh.
- Remove the stem and any leaf material.
- Keep pieces small and plain.
- Treat cherry flesh as an occasional extra, not a regular food.
If cherry is fed at all, the flesh is the part to use and only after the risky parts are removed.
